Send device readings to A-REX

Connect a logger, tracker or fleet platform so temperature, humidity, doors and other readings reach your tracked deliveries, checked against one set of rules.

Device readings show how the goods travelled: the temperature in the trailer, the humidity in a container, when a door opened. A-REX takes them from any device or platform that can send a message, checks each one against the same published rules and adds it to the tracked delivery. You don't need a partner deal with the device maker: your company or your carrier points its own platform at an address A-REX gives you.

A reading never changes a delivery by itself. It feeds the delivery's chart, its notices and proposals that a person approves.

Choose how readings arrive

You have…Use
a fleet, visibility or logger platform that can send a webhookan Inbound endpoint whose target is device readings
your own software that can sign in as a machine clientthe readings API, with a client that may write readings
a logger you read after the tripUpload a logger file on the delivery

Connect a platform

  1. Open Inbound and choose Add inbound endpoint. Pick device readings as what it receives, and the format your platform sends: the A-REX readings JSON or EPCIS sensor data.
  2. Copy the address and the secret into your platform's forwarding settings. Choose the same way of signing on both sides.
  3. If your platform sends another JSON, open the endpoint and use Map another JSON in Readings mapping: say where the time, the values and the device id are, paste one sample message and try it before you publish.
  4. Register each device in Readings under Readings sources, with the id it sends and how often it should send. See Readings sources and devices.

Check before you go live

Every message gets a validation report: how many readings were stored and, for the ones refused, what is wrong and how to fix it, by field name. Valid readings are kept even when others in the same message are refused. See Read a validation report.

Follow the feed

The delivery's card on the lot page shows Feed quality with a letter from A to E. Open it to see the score and the two main problems, for example a long gap. See Feed quality explained.

What is recorded

Each reading keeps who stands behind it: Declared by your company (a file you uploaded), Reported by a connected platform or Measured and signed by the device. Readings are recorded on the ledger from the moment they are received, in periods of up to four hours. Positions are personal data of the driver and are handled apart; see Positions and privacy.
