Every record you keep in A-REX Platform has a digital fingerprint: a short code computed from its content. Change one letter and the fingerprint changes. Once a day, the fingerprints of what your company recorded that day are combined into one fingerprint for the day, and that one is published on public ledgers that nobody, A-REX included, can rewrite. From then on, anyone can check that a record is exactly as it was that day.
What is published
- Only fingerprints. Never the records themselves, never names, places, quantities or any personal data.
- Which records: the latest entry of your audit trail (it seals every entry before it), the reports you generated and the documents you uploaded that day.
- Where: Bitcoin (through the free OpenTimestamps service), your company's own ledger, and Hedera. Each company has its own place on Hedera; A-REX pays for it, so you need no account there.
When
The day's fingerprint is published shortly after midnight UTC. Hedera and your ledger confirm it within minutes; Bitcoin takes a few hours. Until then the record shows as waiting for confirmation, which is normal.
Check a record yourself
- Get the record's proof: ask the assistant, for example "Can report 019a3f2c… be checked?", or read it
from the API (
GET /v1/anchors/proof). The exit kit also carries every day's proofs inaudit/anchors.jsonl. - Check it without A-REX: run the open verifier
verify-anchor-proofon the proof, or compare the day's fingerprint on each ledger's public explorer (the OpenTimestamps tools for Bitcoin, your ledger's explorer, HashScan for Hedera). For a document, the verifier also compares the file you have with the recorded one.
A record from today is not in a proof yet: it joins the next day's fingerprint.
In reports and dashboards
- The audit trail and the evidence reports (EUDR due diligence evidence, shipment pack, supplier evidence, certification audit pack) end with a section Records anyone can check: where the latest day is anchored and the daily list with where to check each copy.
- The Compliance dashboard shows how many of your records anyone can check, and on which ledger.
- In Queries, the dataset Records anyone can check lists each day and ledger with its status.
What it proves, and what it does not
A proof shows that a record existed, exactly as it is, on that day, and that nobody changed it afterwards. It does not show that what the record says is true: a wrong declaration stays wrong, and its correction is a new record with its own fingerprint. See What the ledger records, and what it does not.
