Ask A-REX to do something for you

Say in your own words what A-REX should do, read the plan of drafts the assistant makes, and create the drafts when they are right.

You know what you need: "tell me if an animal leaves without its vaccine", "record the moisture when grain arrives". You do not need to know which part of A-REX does it. Say it in your words and the assistant makes a plan: one card per piece A-REX can build without code, such as a fact you record, a check, an automation that tells someone, or a report. Nothing is created until you select Create drafts, and nothing runs until each draft is put in use on its own page.

Ask during the setup

The company setup has a step What you need A-REX to do, after the work types and stages.

  1. Write up to five requests, one per line, or select an example for your product lines.
  2. Select Continue. Nothing is planned or created yet.
  3. Or select Do this later: the step stays on Home.

After the setup, each request waits in Your requests on Home.

Ask the assistant

  1. On Home, under Your requests, select a request, or open the assistant and write it, for example "warn me when a lot has no geolocation".
  2. The assistant answers in words: each card, what it does, what A-REX cannot do and the closest thing it can.
  3. The plan shows as a card in the conversation. Each line has its kind (Own check, Automation, Report…) and the sentence A-REX found when it checked the draft. Nothing is saved from the chat.
  4. Select Review and create drafts to open the plan.

Create the drafts

The plan's page lists every card with the words of its checked draft and any issue it has.

  1. Read each card. What A-REX cannot do lists what was asked that no piece can do, with what it does instead; (needs a developer) means only custom code could do it.
  2. Select Create drafts. A-REX checks every card again first. When a card changed, or was checked more than a day ago, nothing is saved: the card shows Changed or Checked again. Read it and select Create drafts again.
  3. Each card then shows Draft created and Open the draft.

To drop a plan, select Dismiss the plan from its actions. Its drafts stay.

Put the drafts in use

A draft never runs by itself. Open it with Open the draft and put it in use where that kind of piece goes live: an automation or agent is switched on by an owner or admin, a check is saved and tried in Settings → Checks, work types and stages are published in Settings → Processes and stages. The plan then reads Partly in use or In use, and leaves Your requests.

The assistant only drafts. Who approves each piece, and how, stays as it is for that piece.
