Aquaculture, from the pond to the frozen lot.
Record harvests by pond or cage, keep feed and treatments with each one, and hand on fish and shrimp lots with the codes and key data elements buyers in the United States ask for.

The challenge
A harvest leaves the water and reaches the freezer within hours.
Ponds and cages
Each pond, cage or tank is stocked and harvested on its own, and a lot must name where it grew.
Cold from the first hour
Fish and shrimp are iced at harvest and frozen at the plant, and the temperature must hold on every trip.
Seafood on the FDA's list
Finfish, crustaceans and molluscs are on the Food Traceability List of FSMA 204; catfish such as pangasius are regulated by the USDA instead.
Products used
How A-REX runs aquaculture, step by step.
01
Register harvests
Register each harvest by pond or cage in kilograms, recorded exactly, with the origin reference of the farm and the day it left the water.
- Kilograms by pond or cage, recorded exactly
- Each lot with its farm and harvest day

Processing
Heading, peeling, filleting and freezing make new lots that keep their inputs, each with its traceability lot code and where it was assigned. A control flags a step that puts out more weight than went in.
- Every processing step keeps its inputs
- A traceability lot code on each new lot

Readings
Temperature from a logger or a tracker is charted against the range agreed for the trip, with each excursion and door opening marked. Logger files in CSV, spreadsheet or PDF can be imported too.
- Excursions and door openings marked
- Logger files imported as they are written

Tracked deliveries
Ship to an importer or a distributor with the key data elements kept on each shipment. A tracked delivery keeps a custody record signed step by step and the route up to the last position.
- Key data elements kept with each shipment
- Custody signed step by step

GS1 Digital Link
A GS1 Digital Link from the GTIN and the lot code goes on the case as a QR code. Once you publish the GTIN, a scan opens the lot passport, and a buyer's system finds the lot's events at the same address.
- A QR code next to the barcode you print
- Nothing answers until you publish

EPCIS 2.0
Your buyers' traceability systems ask A-REX for the events of the lots you delivered to them, in GS1 EPCIS 2.0, with their own key. They read only what you share with them, and every read is recorded.
- The GS1 EPCIS 2.0 query interface
- Read only, every read recorded

The journey, stage by stage
Every step is a proposal a person approves.
Start from the aquaculture chain
Fresh and frozen fish, fillets and shrimp with their HS codes, in kilograms, the schemes buyers ask about, such as ASC, BAP and GLOBALG.A.P., and what partners usually share: certificates and lab results.
Record each pond or cage
Stocking and sampling as stages and facts you name in your own words, each on the pond or cage it happened in.
Keep feed and treatments with the pond
Which feed each pond received, and any treatment with its withdrawal period, as facts your company declares.
Register the harvest by pond
Each harvest is a lot in kilograms with the origin reference of its farm and the pond or cage it came from.
Process, keeping the inputs
Heading, peeling, filleting and freezing make new lots that name the harvest lots they came from, each with its traceability lot code.
Ship with the key data elements
Receipts and shipments keep their key data elements with the code, and the FSMA 204 check reads each requirement as recorded, missing, not applicable or not verifiable here.
The evidence it produces
What a buyer, an auditor or a verifier you allow can read, with who declared each part.
- Traceability lot codes
- The code on each lot, with where it was assigned.
- Key data elements
- The key data elements of every receipt, transformation and shipment, kept with the code.
- FSMA 204 evidence check
- Requirement by requirement: recorded, missing, not applicable or not verifiable here.
- Lineage
- Each lot back to its inputs and their plots or farms, and forward to every holder.
- Certificates and lab results
- Each with its issuer, its validity and its evidence level.
- Recall scope
- Every lot, holder and quantity a recall reaches.
An evidence check lists what the records hold. It is not a legal opinion and never says that a lot complies.
Regulation crosswalk
What each rule asks of you, and where the platform keeps it. Evidence, not a legal opinion.
| Rule | What it asks of you | Where the platform keeps it |
|---|---|---|
| FSMA 204 | Key data elements and traceability lot codes for each critical tracking event. | The key data elements of every receipt, transformation and shipment, kept with the traceability lot code. |
| Certification schemes | Organic and other schemes, as certificates a lot must carry. | Each certificate with its issuer and evidence level; a lot rule can stop a lot that lacks one. |
| National rules | Country profiles for what each jurisdiction asks for. | Product codes, units and records in the scheme of each country, from HS and NCM to CN and HTS. |
